E&E: Lower High

March 24, 2019

3/17/2019 – 3/24/2019

I’m really starting to feel that grind. I’m February I mentioned how I lost a lot of motivation but I was able to keep going through with little effort. Last week, I started having feelings of “I’m too tired” or “I don’t feel like it”. Those negative thoughts that actively keep you away from your goals. I think one of the ways in which I’ve made it easier on myself is being out of the house. When I’m out of the house, I’m not as comfortable. I can’t just choose to lie down on my bed and watch YouTube. I go to Muay Thai directly from work every day. I eat lunch and dinner at work as well. There’s just less comfort inertia in the office as opposed to home so my effort doesn’t need to be as great.

Another thing I think about is the idea of progress. I’m getting to the point where I have made a visible change. Lots of people are telling me that they notice a different. Thank you, by the way! However, there are some mental gymnastics to go through here because I can’t feel like I’ve accomplished anything. If I do, I’ll lose that sense of urgency and I might cut more corners more frequently. I’ve placed these lofty goals to continue to encourage myself to improve.

Weight Update

The first non-travel week in a while. Midweek, I hit 170.5, a personal best since I started this blog. My oscillation back up to 172 is also much lower than it was previously to 175 in the last couple weeks. I’m hoping this will allow me to punch through 170 next week. This is a crucial point as my overweight point is at 165. Although it is not my ultimate goal, it will show me if the currently lifestyle I’ve designed is capable of taking me out of the overweight BMI or if I need to make more changes.

Exercise Update

I was able to go to Muay Thai every day this week which felt good. No travel days to distract me. Friday continues to be a rest day, which lines up well since there is more social opportunity on this day. I have also made Saturday into a home workout session day. I’m currently up to a 25 pyramid which is another personal best.

Budget Update

My meal spend this month is currently $630. This isn’t surprising as I hit my budget limit in the first 10 days of the month. I’m hoping I can end with strength in the last week. Moving into my own place again has given me more ownership of grocery shopping. I used to ask my dad to buy things from Costco for me and pay him back but now I own the whole process and just go to Trader Joe’s which is closer. It’s more expensive but I do think the quality is a bit higher. I can taste a noticeable difference in the ribeye steaks, especially. I’m averaging around $60 a week in groceries from Trader Joe’s.
